On March 4, JNCA was invited to present to the Village of Tequesta Council at their workshop session. We asked the Council members for their support and for a resolution letter publicly supporting our efforts. The Council members agreed unanimously, and a letter was written, signed, and provided to JNCA at the monthly Council meeting on March 14.
On March 1, 2024 several news stations and approximately 40 neighbors were on hand for the public unveiling of our new FL non-profit organization, Jupiter Narrows Conservation Alliance, Inc. We introduced JNCA, its partnership with Ocean Conservancy, and our new logo. Reporters were then given a boat tour of the mangrove islands to see their condition.
The March 1, 2024 media day held at the waterfront behind 375 Beach Road resulted in great news coverage on TV and online. News stations as well as neighbors were present while we announced our commitment to protect the mangrove islands and seagrass beds in the Jupiter Narrows. The news was broadcasted several times on local networks.
JNCA is working hard to engage the community in its efforts to save the mangroves and seagrasses. We have held many neighborhood information sessions and community meetings to educate our neighbors and to find like-minded, passionate individuals to support our cause. On February 29, 2024 we published this newsletter summarizing our efforts and progress to date.
The Invading Sea is a collaboration of the major newspapers in Florida, founded to share news, commentary, and educational content about environmental issues affecting Florida. In July of 2023, we wrote and published a public opinion piece which was shared in The Invading Sea and Palm Beach Post. The piece addressed the need for habitat protection Jupiter.
